Global Energy Internet to Implement UN 2030 Agenda for Action on Sustainable Development
On November 1, local time, U.S. high-level seminars and lunches with the theme of "Building a Global Energy Internet and Boosting the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" were held at the UN headquarters in New York. Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres, Deputy Secretary-General Liu Zhenmin, chairman of Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization, chairman of China Electricity Council Liu Zhenya attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Maria Luisa Ribeiro Viotti, Director of the United Nations General Assembly, attended the meeting.
The conference is of high level, wide scope and great influence. It is of great and far-reaching significance to the world's energy revolution and sustainable development of mankind. It marks the formal incorporation of the global energy Internet into the work framework of the UN and a major practical breakthrough after the concept of global energy internet was put forward . As a China initiative to lead the reform of the global governance system, the Global Energy Internet will fully implement the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, provide solutions and action guidelines for achieving the global sustainable development goals, bring unprecedented opportunities for development and beautification for all countries in the world Vision has a tremendous role in promoting the building of a community of human destiny, implementing the "Belt and Road" and tackling climate change.
On September 26, 2015, at the UN summit on sustainable development, Chinese President Xi Jinping issued the "initiative to explore the construction of a global energy Internet to promote clean and green global electricity demand" and gained highly praise and positive response from the international community. The summit passed "Transforming Our World: 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" ("the 2030 Agenda"), clearly setting out 17 goals and 169 sustainable development goals, which set the direction for the development of all countries in the world in the next 15 years.
The Global Energy Internet Cooperation Organization, initiated by China, is committed to establishing an international cooperation platform to promote the implementation of the global energy Internet concept and to achieve a coordinated and sustainable development of energy, economy, society and environment in the world. In order to fully implement the UN 2030 Agenda, the Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization has prepared and posted the "Global Energy Internet Action Plan for Implementing the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" (the "Action Plan") at the UN high-level seminar.
The conference was jointly organized by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization. More than 300 guests from 49 countries representing the United Nations Mission, relevant government departments of energy, international organizations, universities and multinational corporations accumulating nearly 100 institutions (units) attended the seminar. The participants discussed the comprehensive value of the global energy Internet and its important role in helping the global energy Internet to achieve the goals of the 2030 Agenda.
Guterres said that modern energy services are key to achieving sustainable development and are an integral part of reducing poverty, food security, public health and quality education for all. Only efficient energy interconnection can build an energy system that benefits the environment and climate while ensuring global energy connectivity. Building a global energy Internet, through the cooperation between government and enterprises, making full use of emerging technologies and promoting cross-sector innovation are not only the future of global sustainable development but also the key to inclusive global growth. Appeal to all governments and all sectors of society to join the energy network construction, investment in environmentally friendly energy technology development, work together to promote environmental and social development, sustainable energy system for all to share.
Liu Zhenmin said that the "2030" agenda is a universal agenda calling for "no one be left behind." Among them, 17 of the SDGs are closely integrated with 169 specific goals and need to be accomplished through international cooperation and systematic monitoring. The United Nations has long held that energy is one of the most important preconditions for achieving global poverty eradication and sustainable development. The global energy Internet promotes the sustainable development of global energy. The goal is to achieve the universal use of clean energy and renewable energy and to achieve sustainable energy for all. It will play an important role in coping with climate change, reducing carbon dioxide emissions and solving the problem of non-electrified population. The United Nations will, as always, carry out relevant work to promote the early completion of the global energy Internet.
Liu Zhenya said that currently the world's energy development faces such prominent problems as resource shortage, environmental pollution and climate change, which threaten the survival and development of mankind. Accelerating energy change is the key to achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda. The global energy Internet is a clean-led, electricity-centric, interoperable, co-construction and sharing of modern energy system, in essence, is "smart grid + UHV grid + clean energy." To build a global energy Internet, we will fully meet and implement the "2030 Agenda", accelerate the world's green and low-carbon development, protect the earth's ecological environment, promote infrastructure interconnection and sustained economic growth, and make sustainable energy for all, and contribute to the eradication of poverty and hunger , Narrow regional differences, enhance South-South cooperation, North-South cooperation, and build a new pattern of world development characterized by green, low-carbon, peace, harmony and common prosperity.
Liu Zhenya proposed that establishing a global energy Internet is a major strategic move that concerns the future and destiny of mankind and will bring about fundamental changes in the productive forces and relations of production in the energy field. Both the historical opportunity of accelerating the development of clean energy and the opportunities from philosophy and technology to The great challenges of practice will surely go through a process of development in which consensus, cohesion and common actions are formed. At present, the conditions for building a global energy Internet are met. The Global Energy and Internet Cooperation Organization is willing to work more closely with countries in the world and all sectors of society to work together to promote the construction of a global energy Internet and to open a forum for business cooperation, co-construction, sharing and win-win. A new chapter of human civilization, creating a better future for mankind's sustainable development.
Based on the research on the goals and tasks of the 2030 Agenda and the energy and electricity, economic, social and ecological environment in all continents, the Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization put forward the plan of action for implementing the "2030 Agenda" with the global energy Internet. The Action Plan fully supports the 17 Agenda 2030 Development Goals and proposes 10 actions and five mechanisms for implementing the 2030 Agenda by the Global Energy Internet: concept communication, clean development, elimination of electricity-free electricity, interconnection of power grids, replacement of electric power, smart The top ten actions of power grid, energy efficiency improvement, innovation-driven, capacity-building and policy support as well as the top five cooperation mechanisms of global power planning, transnational engineering construction, global electricity trade, interconnection of power grids and coordination of technical standards.
The symposium and lunch will receive the positive response and strong support from a number of well-known dignitaries, experts and scholars in the international community. Vice-Chairman of the UN General Assembly, the Permanent Representative of Zimbabwe Shawa, Deputy Representative of the Permanent Mission of China Wu Haitao, Minister of Science and Technology and Ministry of Higher Education Portugal Eitor, general manager of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd. Cao Zhian, Ethiopia, water conservancy, irrigation and Berkeley, Minister of the Ministry of Electricity, Queisequi, Vice Chairman of the AU Commission, Ruilaibamba, Deputy Minister of Industry and Information and Communications of Germany, Cheng Wei, Founder and CEO of Drip Drift, Chairman of the Committee on Environment and Health of the European Parliament Eleanor Biodawus, State Secretary, Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy Holmen, Thomas Edwards, Chairman of Edison Electric Association, Thomas Cook, Chief Financial Officer, State Grid Corporation of China Li Ruge, Dean of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering Anhard • Hutte and Richard Taylor, Executive Chairman of the International Hydropower Association attended the conference and gave speeches.
